Effects of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction on Serum Activity of Glutathione Peroxidase in Patients with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective:To discuss the effects of Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction on serum activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods: 60 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group, 30 cases in each group. All patients were received conventional hypoglycemic drugs and supportive treatment such as neurotrophy,the treatment group was treated with Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction additionally,with a course of 12 weeks. After treatment,the clinical efficacy was evaluated,the conduction velocity of nerve peroneus communis and serum activity of GSH-Px in patients were detected before and after treatment. Results: The clinical effective rate of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05). Before treatment,there were no statistically significant differences on the conduction velocity of nerve peroneus communis and serum activity of GSH-Px between the two groups(P>0.05);After treatment,the conduction velocity of nerve peroneus communis and serum activity of GSH-Px in both group were improved compared with the treatment before(P<0.05),and the effects on the conduction velocity of sensory nerve and GSH-Px activity in the treatment group were significantly better than those of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction can effectively improve the conduction velocity of nerve peroneus communis and serum activity of GSH-Px in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and improve the clinical efficacy. Its mechanism may be related to antioxidation.
