By studying the ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine,the literatures about traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of hemorrhoids are sorted out,analyzed and summarized. The formation and development of internal and external treatment are analyzed,and the classification and methods of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of hemorrhoids are summarized. The internal treatment can be divided into the clearing method,tonifying method and resolving method,and the external treatment include the external application of Chinese medicine,ligating therapy,acupuncture and moxibustion,guiding method and fistula drying method. These treatments could provide the important ideas and methods for modern clinical practice.
